Background
Applications do not live in isolation; they are very much inter-connected with other applications, systems and business processes in the enterprise. Most large organizations today typically work in a fairly heterogeneous environment with disparate systems. Connecting the systems and applications sitting across the diverse platforms and tying them to the business processes has become one of the top priorities for most organizations. As they continue to evolve towards a cloud strategy—to take advantage of the economic and scale benefits—the need to have a robust Integration Platform escalates.
What is BizTalk
·         BizTalk Server is Microsoft’s Integration and connectivity server solution.
·         A mature product on its seventh release, BizTalk Server 2010 provides a framework that allows organizations to more easily not only integrate applications based on messaging, also enable business process integration and automation.
·         Including over 25 adapters and a robust messaging infrastructure, BizTalk Server provides connectivity between core systems running on different platforms both inside and outside the organization.
Why BizTalk
·         BizTalk server market share – it installed base of more than 10,000 customers. Two-thirds are estimated to be BizTalk Server 2006 Enterprise Edition or newer versions. In 2009, Microsoft garnered 13 % of the ESB suite market software revenue. As BizTalk market grows, more and more organizations require BizTalk expertise.
·         BizTalk server industry solutions – it helps businesses increase productivity across a wide range of industries, including Financial Services, Healthcare, Government, Retail, Manufacturing, etc.
·         Microsoft continuously makes huge investment on BizTalk server – from 1999 to 2001, IBM and Microsoft entered the application integration market. Now, BizTalk 2010 has been the seventh release of the product. Microsoft provides a new BizTalk release approximately every 2 years.
·         High BizTalk professional demand – BizTalk is a rare skill set. It means that BizTalk programmer can easily not only stand out from the crowd, also make better compensation.
·         Low BizTalk professional supply – because of its complexity in nature, the fundamental knowledge, design patterns, and the best practices can’t be easily acquired from reading book or reviewing some demo codes. A formal training helps people quickly understand the product.
